The shop as it appeared in 1957
This year we celebrate 60 years as a supplier of Norwegian and Nordic design. During those years, we have had the pleasure of having many well-known Norwegian designers and artisans on the shelves.
When Per Tannum founded Norway Designs in 1957, it was with a vision to create "a center for the best in quality and design produced in Norway in the areas of furniture, textiles and other applied arts."
Thanks to our knowledgeable employees, our belief that we can be independent of suppliers and choose only what we think suits us best, not to forget our passion for Norwegian design and design, we believe that today we have passed the test, and happy to take another 60 years with the same vision.

Norwegian design history and PLUS
We are proud of our history, and when we celebrate ourselves we want to highlight that we are not just a shop, but also an organization that plays a role in Norwegian design history.
Because, as some of you may not know, our history includes the applied arts organization PLUS and all the wonderful things that were created there. PLUS wanted to bring the industry together with designers so that they could jointly develop prototypes which were then produced in large quantities.

The anniversary year
During the year we will have two exhibitions to show our history from 1957 to the present day. The first exhibition will be a collaboration with Blomqvist Nettauksjon, where we will show objects from the PLUS era. Together with us, they will collect items from the time when PLUS existed. You can see all the items in a curated exhibition in the store from 4 May, and on 1 June they will be auctioned off by Blomqvist Online Auction. We are looking for objects for this exhibition. If you have products from PLUS, we would like to hear from you!

The second exhibition will be in our Norway Designs NÅ series .
We have long questioned the lack of a Norwegian design industry, and why there are so few who invest in using Norwegian designers. With this as a starting point for Norway Designs NÅ Vol. 4, in the spring of 2016 we invited around 10 Norwegian manufacturers and around 30 designers to a speed-date. We wanted this to contribute to new collaborations between designers and manufacturers, and provide fertile ground for new products and collections that we can sell at Norway Designs.
Currently, the result of these meetings is around ten collections, and all will be shown at the exhibition Norway Designs NÅ Vol. 4 in October 2017.
We look forward to celebrating the year with you, so follow us here on the website, on Facebook and Instagram or sign up for our newsletter so that you don't miss out on exhibitions and other events in the store.
