Høvik Lys - Industrial design
For more than 100 years, Høvik Lys was the country's largest manufacturer of lighting. Jonas Hidle, Kjell Munch and Arnulf Bjørnsholt were the company's leading designers, and for five decades they left their mark on Norwegian lighting culture. Høvik Lys developed lamps for Oslo City Hall, which was an extensive and difficult task. Most prestigious were the 11 giant chandeliers at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Preforming Arts, which were a gift from the Norwegian government. Most important, however, was the consumer market, and Akershus, Viking, Dovre and Jonas were all lamp models that went down well.
This publication is part of the award-winning book series that pays tribute to Norwegian designers who deserve a rightful place in people's consciousness. The book has both Norwegian and English text.
