In their time, the glaciers dug out the Sognefjord 205 kilometers into Sogn og Fjordane, which makes it Norway's longest, and the world's second longest fjord.

The fjord and the surrounding landscape are spectacular and beautiful, and the height difference from the bottom of the fjord to the highest peak is over 3,000 metres. The mountains and landscape around the innermost part of the Sognefjord are among Norway's most visited hiking areas, with Jotunheimen, Jostedalsbreen and Aurlandsdalen being some of the most famous.
