Mondaine is a Swiss watch brand with roots dating back to the 1940s. Swiss Federal Railways (SSB) wanted to highlight its punctuality and asked Hans Hilfiker to design a solid and legible clock. The result was "The Swiss Railways Watch", which today is a world-renowned classic. Although it does not have numbers on the dial, the watch is easy to read. The red seconds hand is a miniature of the station attendant's hand-held departure signal and has become the very symbol of punctuality in Switzerland.
