Røros Tweed
Røros Tweed is a Norwegian brand that produces wool blankets in close collaboration with Scandinavia's leading designers and textile artists. In the factory, which is located 600 meters above sea level, they make blankets, cushions and seating mats from 100% Norwegian wool.
The history of Røros Tweed stretches back to the 18th century when the director of Røros Kobberverk, Peder Hiort, bequeathed his fortune to the poor in Røros. According to the will, wool and linen were to be bought in to make warm clothes that could withstand the cold mountain climate on Røros. The founding of Røros Tweed was a continuation of the Hiort Foundation's home improvement business, and in 1952 the factory was completed.
Since then, Røros Tweed has experimented with Norwegian wool and developed high-quality textile products.
